Abstract

Population ageing is a biological phenomenon, and every city must face this. They are the valuable and vulnerable segment of the population of a city. City planning, policy, and strategies are concerned with making the city friendly for the aged people. Condition of the physical environment can positively influence the health, active ageing, and ageing in place of the aged by ensuring health, well-being of the aged people. This study reveals the perceptions of the aged people who are the residents in a planned residential area through a semi-structured questionnaire survey about the physical facilities that influence on health and wellbeing of the aged people. Aged people have different need and these findings will help in incorporating the precise needs of the aged and appropriate developing policy for ensuring age friendly city planning.
