Exploration of Participatory Budgeting Approach for Implementation in the Local Government of Bangladesh

Abstract
Active citizen participation in budgetary planning allows citizens to prioritize their need and demands which strengthens the accountability of local government authorities and pave the road for good governance. The purpose of this study theoretically explores the implementation of Participatory Budgeting (PB) in the Local Government of Bangladesh. The qualitative study suggests that obstacles are preventing successful public engagement from being implemented. The findings of the study would help to understand citizen participation in the budget process, their perception, intention, and accessibility in the budgetary decision and fill the gap or connect the missing link of knowledge with a real case, which will enrich the existing theory of public participation.
