Domestic Violence Against Women Observations from the Field

Abstract

This paper is concerned with the patterns, structure, and implications of domestic violence against women in some areas of Gazipur  and Tangail district of Bangladesh. Domestic violence against women is being increased as a type of inequality and violation of human  rights and fundamental freedoms.. Women in different classes are facing various forms of domestic violence such as dowry, marital  conflict, assult, are common characteristics of domestic violence among these women. Along with patriarchal social structure, cultural  and religious dogma, superstitions, economic and educational backwardness are some major factors that are contributing to induce  domestic violence. The ultimate impact of domestic abuse is social, physical, mental, economic and sexual.
